Roy Keane has been recalled into Brian Kerr's Republic of Ireland squad who face a crunch World Cup Qualifying tie with France on September 7th at Lansdowne Road.

The Untied and Republic of Ireland skipper was rested in their friendly defeat at the hands of Italy but returns to the squad for the tie against France, who have been boosted with the news that Zinedine Zidane has returned from international retirement to help Les Bleus qualify for the World Cup.

Manager Brian Kerr is happy with his squad and have few injury worries. "To the best of my knowledge everybody came through the weekend OK, with no information to the contrary," he said.

Keane joins United team-mates John O'Shea and Liam Miller in the squad.

The Republic top Group 4 with 13 points but have the tough test of denying Switzerland, Israel and France from qualifying.
