Wayne Rooney has stated he is aiming for silverware with club and country this season following a lack of success over the past few seasons.

Rooney narrowly missed out on his first trophy with the Red Devils last season after losing the F.A Cup Final on penalties to Arsenal, but is targeting success next season.

"We've now gone two years without a title and the players know that's not good enough. This is a big season for United," he insisted. 

"This time our target must be to go into every competition believing we can win, at a club like United you have to believe you can win everything."

The 19-year-old, fresh from scoring a wonder-goal against Urawa Red Diamonds, is also eyeing international success with England in the forthcoming World Cup. 

"Every player is looking to the World Cup. I think we've got every chance of winning it - it could be our year."
