Fergie: No Asia Tour for Keane

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed Roy Keane will not join up with his fellow Red Devils ahead of their fixtures in Japan as part of their tour of Asia. Ruud van Nistelrooy has reiterated his intentions to stay at Old Trafford despite tempting links to La Liga giants Barcelona and Real

Despite speculation claiming skipper Keane and Ferguson were involved in a training ground bust-up, Ferguson is adamant his omission from the traveling squad is down to a hamstring injury.

The Irishman featured in a reserve friendly with Rossendale last night and Ferguson admitted Keane will not join up midway through the tour. "There is no point bringing Roy out at this stage because he could only play in one game," he said.

"We play at Walsall on Saturday, so he will play in that if he came through last night's match without a problem."

United hold a 100% unbeaten pre-season following victories against Clyde, Peterborough, Beijing Hyundai and the Hong Kong national team.
