Quinton Fortune is set to miss the start of the new season following surgery on knee cartilage the midfielder damaged in Manchester United's pre-season preparations.
Many reports claimed the South African
international will be out for many months with a cruciate ligament injury but a
spokesman for the Red Devils dismissed rumours and put the record straight.
The spokesman confirmed: "Quinton Fortune will be out for five to six weeks."
Speculation regarding the 28-year-old's Old Trafford future was put in doubt recently with Newcastle United set to launch a bid. The player insisted he's happy in Manchester.
Fortune is likely to miss the start of the season and United's Premiership opener with Everton on August 13th.
