Arabian consortium Dubai International Capital have been touted to launch a takeover bid for Manchester United amid rumours American tycoon Malcolm Glazer is close to taking over the Red Devils. Company owner Sheikh Mohammed and United boss Sir Alex Ferguson have a close relationship as both are passionate about horse racing. Sheikh Mohammed, one of the richest men in the world, owns many leading racehorses and recently bought a one-third share in the London Eye.An insider said: "One of their prime concerns is to ensure there wouldn't be opposition from board and fans," "There is growing interest in the Middle East in English clubs. We've just seen Emirates Airlines finance the new Arsenal stadium. But whoever comes looking for United is going to have to win over the fans." However, DIC's Chief Executive Sameer Al Ansari isn't ruling out a possible bid. "I cannot comment on this suggestion." he said. |
