Real Madrid shot-stopper Iker Casillas has revealed that Manchester United have expressed firm interest in securing his services as Sir Alex Ferguson looks for a replacement for Roy Carroll and Tim Howard, who are both poised to leave Old Trafford.

United are expected to lose Ulsterman Carroll on a Bosman transfer at the end of the season whilst USA international 'keeper Howard looks for consistent first-team football.

Ferguson has proven reluctant to hand Carroll or Howard the Number One jersey as both seem prone to costly blunders.

An array of goalkeepers including Carlos Kameni, Sebastian Fray and Paul Robinson have all been linked with the vacent position at Old Trafford, and Spanish international stopper Iker Casillas exposed interest has been shown in him.

"For a long time Manchester United have been interested in me. An offer has been put to my agent but, for me, money is not everything in life," stated the 23-year-old.

"There are a lot of questions to be answered before I could leave Madrid but I like the Premiership and United is one of the few clubs that I would go to if I were to leave Spain"

"That is because of its history, tradition, supporters and the way they treat their players"

"I've spoken with Sir Alex Ferguson several times after matches and I know that he likes me" he added.
