Ferguson Eyeing Kromkamp Swoop

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is looking to AZ Alkmaar defender Jan Krompkamp to help bolster his defence. The £5 million-rated Dutch international defender, 24, has also been scouted by a number of clubs including fellow Premiership side Aston Villa. Hobbs in Trouble

Ferguson Eyeing Kromkamp Swoop

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has believed to have expressed his interested in AZ Alkmaar star Jan Kromkamp to bolster his defence.

With talk that Wes Brown might be heading out of Old Trafford in the summer, Ferguson jetted a number of scouts to Holland to watch a few AZ games, including today's clash with Roda JC.

Right-back Kromkamp, who can convert to a centre-half, has been capped twice under new Holland coach Marco Van Basten as a reward for dazzling performances in AZ's fantastic campaign so far in the Dutch Eredivisie.

The 24-year-old played a full 90 minutes for Holland against England recently at Villa Park, a destination that could also be on the cards for Kromkamp.

Aston Villa manager David O'Leary has also been tipped to be in the race for his signature.
