United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has hailed his side's famous 2-0 victory over Arsenal, dubbing the vital win as a 'boost' that can hopefully set United back on track in the Premiership. Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has hailed his side's famous 2-0 victory over Arsenal, dubbing the vital win as a 'boost' that can hopefully set United back on track in the Premiership.

Ruud van Nistelrooy opened the deadlock at Old Trafford with a well placed penalty before Wayne Rooney marked his 19th birthday with a goal deep into injury time.

The win ended The Gunners' unbeaten run of what would have been a half-century of games without losing in the Premiership.

"It's a great boost - when you're drawing too many games, it's important to get back on the winning trail." declared the Scotsman.

"Hopefully it's a turning point. If we work this hard and I can pick the same team consistently, we'll get results."

"Getting back on the winning trail is important, if we work as hard as that and become a consistent team, then we'll get results alright."

Regarding referee Mike Riley's controversial penalty decision, Ferguson said: "I've not seen it, but if you're brought down in the penalty box, it's a penalty kick.
