Manchester United forward Louis Saha has insisted that the recent signing of Wayne Rooney will be good for the team's cause and is looking forward to win his place in the team.

With the arrivals of Wayne Rooney and Alan Smith, acquisitions that total just under £40 million, the Frenchman will have to battle it out with duo for a place up front with the almost definite starter Ruud van Nistelrooy.

"We must be a top team again as we were before, rediscover our supremacy and Rooney is going to help us." said the France international.

He added: "Personally he will also allow me to improve my game and work harder, and when I start a game with Manchester United it will be even more beautiful."

The former Fulham frontman is currently on international duty with France and is likely to feature in their World Cup qualifier against Israel this weekend.
