Butt Set to Complete Tyne Transfer
Long serving midfielder Nicky Butt is set to complete a move to Premiership rivals Newcastle United within the next few days, according to reports.

Butt, 29, has been ignored for most of last season by United boss Sir Alex Ferguson and appears to have lost his place in the team after an amazing 13-years.

"We have agreed terms pending a medical and Butt’s own terms," confirmed an official statement from Manchester United.

"Nicky Butt has left the Manchester United tour of America," 


The deal is reported to be around the £2.5 million mark although Sir Alex and chairman David Gill have slapped a price tag on the England international that was much higher a few weeks ago.

Tireless midfielder Butt had his Euro 2004 ruined by injury after damaging a ligament in his knee but will be fine for the new season – whether he moves to St James’ Park or not.

Interest was expressed from Birmingham, Middlesbrough and Aston Villa this summer but will join The Magpies subject to a medical.
