Young striker Eddie Johnson has joined former United team-mate Neil Wood at Coventry City on a season long loan-deal at Highfield Road. The 19-year old has made his debut for The Red Devils in the Carling Cup last season against Leeds United. Hobbs in Trouble

Young Manchester United striker Eddie Johnson has joined former United team-mate Neil Wood at Coventry City on a season long loan-deal at  Highfield Road.

The 19-year old has made his debut for The Red Devils in the Carling Cup last season against Leeds United but has joined Peter Reid's Sky Blues on-loan to gain vital match experience.

Johnson has played at England U20 level and went on-loan to Belgian feeder club Royal Antwerp just a short while ago.

"It'll be good for me to get the experience and I want to get Coventry promoted," said Johnson.

"I was on loan at Royal Antwerp in Belgium last year and scored nine goals in 11 games, and the standard was quite high," 

"Sir Alex Ferguson thought it would be a good idea for me to come and get some experience." he added.

"I know Woody (Neil Wood) really well and we get on. It’s given me somebody to help break the ice with the new lads. It’ll make it easier for me but they’ve all been great with me anyway and made me feel really welcome."
