Forward Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that he is looking to repay manager Sir Alex Ferguson for keeping faith in him through what was an injury-hit season last term. Manchester United forward Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that he is looking to repay manager Sir Alex Ferguson for keeping faith in him through what was an injury-hit season last term.

The Norwegian was out for most of last season with a knee injury but wants to get back to playing football for United next season and prove he's worth a starting spot in the XI.

"It meant a lot for me that Sir Alex Ferguson showed me trust and gave me time to come back," he said.

"I never made unrealistic targets for myself. We have 25 great players at United, so there was no need to rush it."

"I really want to come back better than ever when it goes bad. I want to prove that I can be better. Everyone must handle things going against them, it's then you get to see what people are made of."

"I want to play an important role for United this season. It's up for me to get in good shape. If I play well, I also play many games. I like that all is up to me."

Solskjaer will battle with Old Trafford's latest attacking recruit Alan Smith for a place up-front or in midfield next season, as The Red Devils aim to win back the Premiership crown.
