Manchester United's Nicky Butt will miss the
rest of England's Euro 2004 campaign after suffering damage in training to
a ligament in his right knee.
Football's governing body has denied Sven-Goran Eriksson to call upon a replacement midfielder as England look to put their 2-1 defeat to France behind them. "Nicky Butt has got medial ligament
damage which is normally a three to four-week injury and it is unlikely he
will play any further part in the tournament." confirmed FA spokesman
Colin Gibson Paul Scholes has also suffered a Euro 2004 setback and is rated as just 50/50 to play against Switzerland on Thursday. |
