United have recieved some welcome good news, with the injury that caused Cristiano Ronaldo to limp off against Porto on Wednesday night deemed not to be as serious as the club first thought. A scan has shown that there is no serious damage or break to the knee of the 19-year-old.

Sir Alex Ferguson has recieved some welcome good news, with the injury picked up by teenage winger Cristiano Ronaldo judged to not be as serious as originally thought.

The Portuguese international limped off during United's bitterly disappointing 1-1 draw with Porto on Wednesday as the Red Devils crashed out of the European Cup. The 19-year-old was forced to come off due to a nasty challenge with Nuno Valente which saw Ronaldo caught sharply just above the right knee, prompting fears of a fracture of a broken bone.

Thankfully a scan has shown that there is no serious damage and the pacey Ronaldo should be back in full training shortly. However, he remains a doubt for the derby clash against Manchester City on Sunday, which could give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the chance to make his first senior-team start in a Manchester United shirt since September.
