Manchester United chief executive David Gill has confirmed that the 'matter' between J.P McManus, John Magnier and Sir Alex Ferguson is starting to affect the club and is starting to lower morale. Sir Alex says that he is having 'a terrible week' despite signing a new contract with United. Hobbs in Trouble

Manchester United chief executive David Gill has confirmed that the 'matter' between J.P McManus, John Magnier and Sir Alex Ferguson is starting to affect the club and is starting to lower morale.

Ferguson has clearly stated he isn't bothered with the reported row over the ownership of racehorse Rock of Gibraltar with billionaire shareholders J.P McManus and John Magnier and he wants to stay on as manager of Manchester United by signing a new contract, but Gill insists the matter is affecting everyone.

"The matter is affecting United now," claimed Gill.

"Alex recognises that and that's why we are keeping in close contact on particular issues."

"We hope there is a resolution reached quickly and it would be in the best interests of everyone but that is something for Alex and Mr Magnier," Gill added.

Sir Alex says that he is having 'a terrible week' despite signing a new contract with United.

"It has been a terrible week for us, particularly when it starts to get to your family, and I have been disappointed, I really have," Ferguson said

"I've a clear conscience. Without any question of doubt, I wouldn't abuse my position. It's too dear to me."
