signed Chinese sensation Dong Fangzhuo from Chinese outfit Dalian Shide.
However Dong doesn't qualify for a British work-permit and will therefore spend his first season as a Manchester United player on-loan at United's Belgian feeder club Royal Antwerp in order to apply for a Belgian work-permit. The young forward moved to United for just £500,000 but may increase to a hefty £3.5 million depending on apperences. He could either apply for a Belgian passport during his time at Antwerp or play 75% or more of China's international fixtures within the next 24 months. As part of the deal, United have to send out a few coaches to China for a little while to develop and train Dalian Shide's youth teams. Dong impresssed United's coaches during a trial at Carrington and Sir Alex Ferguson was quick to snap up the forward. |
