Cautious United Delay Solskjaer Return
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's return to Manchester United action as being delayed, with the club believing it will be wise to give the Norwegian more time to recover from knee surgery.

The 30-year-old was due to be involved in United's reserve league meeting with Birmingham City on Wednesday. However, the versatile forward has now been given another week to recover from surgery with United being cautious as they aim to have the fan-favourite returning to action in prestigne condition.

Solskjaer has been sidelined since September, and United's 0-0 stalemate with Newcastle on Sunday was the 24th game he has missed. The delay in Ole's return means the Red Devils' attacking resources will continue to be stretched, with a move for a striker during the January transfer window likely.

Solskjaer, nicknamed the 'Super Sub', can play as a striker, behind the front two or as a right winger. His performances towards the end of last season and at the beginning of the current campaign on the right flank would seem to suggest that Sir Alex would prefer to use him in this role. Still, youngsters Darren Fletcher and Cristiano Ronaldo will battle hard for a regular place on United's right flank.
