Manchester United and Dutch goal-machine Ruud
van Nistelrooy scored a hat-trick in Holland's 6-0 thrashing of Scotland in
Amsterdam last night.
van Nistelrooy continued his fine club form by netting home on the 36th, 50th and the 66th minute for the Dutch. Wesley Sneijder opened the scoring on the 13th minute and PSV defender/midfielder Wilfred Oojier made it 2-0 on the 32nd minute. van Nistelrooy then headed the 3rd in from Sneijder's free-kick and chipped Rab Douglas on the 55th minute to make it 4-0. Substitute Ronald de Boer then came on to make it 5-0 and then van Nistelrooy completed his hat-trick two minutes later. Young United winger Darren Fletcher also played in the game for Scotland but could do nothing to stop the Dutch's wrath. Holland: Van der Sar, Ooijer (De Boer
46), Reiziger, Bouma (Seedorf 67), Van der Meyde, Van der Vaart, Cocu,
Sneijder, Davids, Overmars, van Nistelrooy (Kluivert 76). Scotland: Douglas, McNamara, Pressley, Wilkie, Naysmith (Ross 46), Fletcher, Ferguson, McCann (Miller 62), Rae, McFadden, Dickov (Crawford 45). |
