Manchester United's promising Scottish midfielder Darren Fletcher has signed a new contract with the Premiership champions which will keep him at Old Trafford until 2007. The Scotsman has also been named in Berti Vogts' Scottish team to face Lithuania in a Euro 2004 qualifying game later this month. Match Report

Darren Fletcher Signs New Contract
Manchester United's promising Scottish midfielder Darren Fletcher has signed a new contract with the Premiership champions which will keep him at Old Trafford until 2007.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson rates the 19 year old incredibly highly, saying:

"This deal is in keeping with bringing young players through to the first-team squad."

"We recognize Darren's progress and are delighted to give him a new contract. "

Fletcher made his first start in a United jersey earlier this season, when he played against Leicester City. The Red Devils went on to win the match 4-1, and his performance in that match earned him the contract.

The Scotsman has also been named in Berti Vogts' Scottish team to face Lithuania in a Euro 2004 qualifying game later this month.

He will be looking to earn his second cap for Scotland, after his substitute appearance against Norway.
