RKC Waalwijk manager Martin Jol claims that Sir Alex Ferguson wants him as his assistant.

Sir Alex Ferguson still hasn't appointed a successor to Carlos Queiroz, who left United in the summer to be Real Madrid's head coach.

Jol, 47, claims that he spoke to Sir Alex and that he wanted him as his new right-hand man.

"I had a three-hour talk with him. Until now I have heard nothing, but as time goes by my chances become slimmer," said Jol.

"I don't want to say anything about this Manchester United deal, because I have a rule with Ferguson that I'll not say anything,"

"But if I get the chance to go to Manchester it would be a very interesting job."

The managing director of RKC Waalwijk, Marcel Brands, says he will not get in the way of Jol if he decides to move to Old Trafford.

"It is a bit of a nuisance for us, but it's a great opportunity for him, and we could get some money for Jol."

Jol use to play professional football in England for Coventry and West Brom during the 80's, and then moved to Bayern Munich.
