Bellion set to Sign

Manchester United, at last, look certain to secure the signature of Sunderland’s highly rated young French forward David Bellion.

Bellion’s contract expires today, meaning United are now free to bring the 20-year-old to Old Trafford.

United have been chasing Bellion for months, with Sir Alex Ferguson having two bids rejected in January.

Ferguson was willing to pay £1.5million for the youngster, which fell well short of the Black Cats’ £4million asking price.

Former Sunderland manager Peter Reid brought Bellion to the Stadium of Light in July 2001 from French club Cannes on a free transfer two-year deal.
