Queiroz to join Beckham at Madrid?

Manchester United’s assistant manager Carlos Queiroz has been tipped to take charge of Real Madrid after Vincente Del Bosque was sacked last night.

Del Bosque is seen as possibly the most unlucky manager ever to be sacked. Winning two European Cups, two Spanish league titles, one European Super Cup and one World Club Cup in four years as manager obviously wasn't enough for the La Liga giants.

Real president Florentino Perez confirmed he was interested in Queiroz.

"Queiroz is one of the people we are interested in. He has the profile we are looking for," Perez said in a press conference.

"I'm on holiday at the moment so you'll understand I can't say anything about it," the 53-year-old Portuguese replied.

Queiroz was formerly coach of Portugal, Sporting Lisbon and South Africa.

Having guided the South Africans to the 2002 World Cup he resigned before the finals and joined United last summer, but he could be making a quick departure to join up with David Beckham at the Burnebeu.
