Beckham awarded OBE

Manchester United midfielder David Beckham has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s birthday honours list for his services to football. 

"I’m honoured to receive this recognition- its not just for me, but for Manchester United, England, my team-mates and my family," said the England skipper. 

Becks wasn’t the only footballer in Manchester to be named in the list as Manchester City’s Bermudan international Shaun Goater received an MBE for his contribution to youth football in his native Bermuda.
