Love leaves

Sunderland have completed the double signing of Manchester United's Paddy McNair and Donald Love, as Jose Mourinho continues to make significant changes to the Red Devils squad.

The Black Cats are thought to have splashed out £5.5million on the defensive pair, with manager David Moyes saying the pair “have got really good potential and the opportunity to improve”.

Both players, aged 21, have had limited first-team opportunities at United but clearly do not form part of Jose Mourinho’s long-term plans at Old Trafford.

Ulsterman McNair leaves the club having notched up 27 appearances, whilst Scotsman Love has made two senior appearances as a Red Devil, and also spent time on loan at Lancastrian rivals Wigan.

Love’s only league appearance for United, funnily enough, came against Sunderland - the club he has now joined.

Following the deal, Moyes said – on the Sunderland website - “I want to add some young players to the squad as well as some senior players and both of them have got really good potential and the opportunity to improve.”

The duo could be reacquainted with United on Boxing Day, when Moyes returns to Old Trafford in a Boxing Day, top-flight clash. United visit Sunderland on April 8th.
