Ex-Red Blanc quits PSG managerial post

Former Manchester United defender Laurent Blanc has quit as manager of Paris St-Germain.

Blanc will be remembered for winning the Ligue 1 title three years on the bounce with PSG.

In 2016, the Parc des Princes won the division by a jaw-dropping 31 points, and lost only two games on the way to the title. He also led the club to Coupe de France in 2015 and 2016.

Despite these glories, however, club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi had spoken of a "sense of failure" at the big-spending French club.

Champions League glory continued to elude PSG, and Blanc saw his side crash out at the quarter-final stage in each of his three seasons in charge.

Blanc made 75 appearances for the Red Devils between 2001 and 2003, scoring four goals.
