Under Louis van Gaal, Manchester United have racked up their worst record after 23 games in Premier League history. ManUtdWeb outlines United’s top-flight record at this stage of the season dating back to the rebadging of England’s top flight in 1992/93. 

Pressure is mounting on the Dutchman following Saturday’s 1-0 home reverse at the hands of Southampton – a sixth league defeat of the campaign.

The nature of United’s disappointing season is exemplified by the fact that LVG has presided over the club’s poorest record after 23 league games, since England’s top flight was rebadged as the Premier League for the 1992/93 campaign.

After 23 league outings, van Gaal’s 2015/16 charges have amassed three fewer points than David Moyes’ Red Devils did during the troubled 2013/14 campaign.

The highest number of points United have notched up up after 23 Premier League games is an impressive 57; during the 2006/07 title-winning season.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s lowest return at this stage of the season came in 1992/93 – at a time when there were 42 top-flight games in a season – where the Reds had amassed 41 points on their way to winning the league crown.
