Hummels fuels rumours of United switch

Speculation has been fuelled concerning an Old Trafford switch for Mats Hummels, with the player talking openly about a possible move away from the Bundesliga. 

A new defender is top of the wish list for many United fans - and the highly-rated Borussia Dortmund man may well fit the bill.
 
The player has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for some while, and would be regarded as a marquee acquisition for Louis van Gaal. 
 
26-year-old Hummels is contracted with Dortmund until 2017, and has openly raised question marks over his long-term future with Jurgen Klopp's side, leading to much paper talk of a potential move to the Red Devils.
 
Speaking to Kicker Magazine, he said: "Everyone knows how much I like Dortmund, but I also want us to have a powerful team which has a powerful approach.

"I have had a few conversations recently, which were very relevant for me to get a general overview, but I haven't made a decision about my future."

Hummels' Dortmund endured a very difficult start to their Bundesliga campaign, but have recovered well and currently sit 10th.
