Jonny Evans was absent through injury, but has expressed pride in team mates who ensured Northern Ireland's phenomenal start to Euro 2016 qualifying continued with a fine 2-0 victory in Greece.

The Manchester United centre-back was out of action with an ankle injury, as Michael O'Neill's men made it three wins from three, following victories over Hungary and the Faroe Islands.

Jamie Ward put the away team ahead in the ninth minute, with Kyle Lafferty doubling the advantage after the break.

After the game, Evans told the club's official website: "It's been absolutely gutting to miss the games but I'm immensely proud of the lads for the way they've performed."

Northern Ireland, who included ex-Reds Roy Carroll, Jonny's brother Corrie and Oliver Norwood in their starting XI, are looking to qualify for their first major tournament since 1986. They have never qualified for the finals of the European Championships.
