Sir Alex Ferguson handed Cristiano Ronaldo the Man of the Match accolade after watching the fomer Mancester United winger bag both goals in Real Madrid’s Uefa Super Cup victory over Sevilla on on Tuesday evening.

Ex-Red Ronaldo handed the Champions League holders the lead as he turned home a stunning Gareth Bale shot, before completing his brace with a drilled shot.

Sir Alex, Ronaldo’s former boss, was in attendance at the Cardiff City Stadium – and, as part of Uefa’s technical committee, helped select the Portugease international as Man of the Match.

“He made it easy for me tonight,” said the Scotsman, on selecting Ronaldo.

Real's victory saw them win the trophy for the second time. It is a competiton Sir Alex and United have won once, beating Red Star Belgrade in 1991.
