Fresh from securing a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games, Usain Bolt seems full of confidence for the Louis van Gaal era at Manchester United - and still hopes to one day work his way into the Dutchman's plans!

Bolt ran the final leg of the 4x100m final on Saturday, helping Jamaica to first place in a Commonwealth Games record time of 37.58 seconds.

The 27-year-old, a well-known United fan, now plans to switch his focus to the 200m event - but also retains ambitions of working his way into the Red Devils XI.

He said: "Hopefully when I retire I can talk to him (Louis van Gaal) and get a spot in the team."

The world' fastest man seems to be brimming with confidence about United's chances for the season ahead, adding: "Van Gaal means business - he's solid and I'm happy. Manchester United are back."

Bolt has previously spoken of his desire to move into football when quitting athletics, and reports claim he was close to playing in Rio Ferdinand's testimonial before a schedule clash intervened.
