Bebe leaves United

Manchester United frontman Bebe has left the club, joining Benfica in a deal which could be worth approximately £2.4million.

The transfer also includes a sell-on clause which will see United net 50 per cent of any future fee Benfica receive for the player.

24-year-old Bebe joined United in 2010 for £7.4million, but has failed to break into the Red Devils first-team, spending much time away from the club away on loan.

Having previously spent time at Beskitas and Rio Ave, he last season impressed at Pacos Ferreira, bagging 13 league goals, and was linked with an unlikely call-up to the Portugease national squad.

Bebe leaves United having made seven appearances for the club, two in the Premier League.His two Red Devil goals came in the League Cup and Uefa Champions League.

His final outing in a United shirt came at Altrincham in a reserve-team friendly, having also played for Warren Joyce's men in warm-up matches at Bray Wanderers and Southport.

In moving to Benfica, he joins the reigning champions of Portugal and is set to get the chance to impress in European's top competition.
