Manchester United's second string found their summer scoring boots on Wednesday evening with a five-star performance at Altrincham.

24 hours after a goalless draw at Southport, Warren Joyce's men returned to action at Moss Lane and got their first win of their pre-season preparations, with a significant number of players featuring in both matches.

For United, James Wilson broke the deadlock after a quiet opening half hour, with Davide Petrucci doubling the advantage before half-time.

The midfielder added United's third, before Patrick McNair and Callum Evans ensured it was a big win for the Red Devils' second XI against the Conference outfit.

Next up for United's reserve team is a tricky trip to Barnsley on Tuesday evening.
