Juan Mata introduced

Juan Mata has heaped praise on interim manager Ryan Giggs after the Welshman kicked off his spell in charge of the club with a convincing 4-0 victory.

The former Chelsea midfielder was named on the substitute's bench by Giggs, but bagged a second-half brace after being introduced.

Mata's performance was one of many highlights in a comfortable United victory as Giggs' start to managerial life began in fine fashion.

The winger is widely anticipated not to get the job on a permanent basis. He is instead predicted to take on a senior coaching role under a new manager, with Dutchman Louis van Gaal tipped for the post.

However, Mata is hugely enthusiastic following the recent appointment of Giggs, emphasising the squad's happiness with his arrival into the Old Trafford hot seat.

"If we speak about Ryan we speak about a Manchester United person," said Mata,

"He was very successful here as a player and now he is leading the team. We are all happy because who is better to do it?"

Mata will be hoping to have earned a place in the starting XI when United return to action on Saturday against Sunderland.
