Manchester United's Under-21 side had to settle for a goalless draw against Middlesbrough on Monday evening, despite dominating much of the game at the Salford City Stadium.

Fabio da Silva, Federico Macheda and Jesse Lingard were amongst those in United's starting XI, as Warren Joyce's men squandered a host of chances.

Amid speculation about a possible loan move away from United, Wilfried Zaha was introduced as a second-half substitute as United saw a Warren Keane goal ruled out for offside.

'Boro enjoyed more of the ball in the second period, but United will be disappointed not to have found the net in an Under-21 Premier League contest they could easily have won.
