Moyes: United 'unlucky' in FA Cup exit

David Moyes felt his Manchester United side were unlucky to lose as they crashed out of the FA Cup at the third round stage for only the second time since 1982 on Sunday.

A late strike from Wilfried Bony sent Swansea City into the fourth round, after Javier Hernandez had cancelled out Wayne Routledge’s opener.

The result heaps more pressure on United’s new boss, with the Red Devils having lost four of their last six matches at Old Trafford. United are now out of the FA Cup and 11 points off the pace in the Premier League.

After the defeat, Moyes said: "We played quite well at times, got near the edge of the box quite regular, but didn't make an opportunity to score the goal. I thought for long periods we had good control of the game.

"We were a bit unlucky to lose. We had some opportunities, not enough, and we were down to 10 men."

United return to action on Tuesday in the League Cup semi-final, first-leg clash at Sunderland, before Swansea return to the Theatre of Dreams in the league, looking to build on their first ever victory at the stadium.
