Manchester United boss David Moyes believes his on-form frontman Danny Welbeck should be aiming to score 20 goals this season.

Following his winning goal at Norwich City, Welbeck took his tally for the season to seven strikes.

A lack of goals from the player has caused concern for United fans in the past - and he found the net only once last season.

However, the England international has bagged four goals in United's last four league games, and his introduction from the substitute's bench was the catalyst for United's win at Norwich on Saturday.

Moyes believes Welbeck should be aiming for 20 goals this season, suggesting that the United boss is keen to regularly deploy the Mancunian for the remainder of the campaign.

Moyes said: "He got one goal last year and now he is on seven for this season. It could be better, but you have got to say it is going in the right direction.

"With the second half of the season to go, he should be certainly looking to score 20 goals. We need him to do that because when you don't have Wayne and you don't have Robin, then you need people to step up to the mark.

"In quite a few of the games recently he has done that for us."
