United midfielder Michael Keane hopes to extend his present loan spell at Derby County beyond January 1st.

Keane's loan agreement with the Championship outfit expires on New Year's Day.

Since joining the club in November, Keane has helped the Rams to four victories and one draw,

Both the club and player hope Manchester United will agree to extend the arrangement as Derby hunt for promotion to the Premier League.

"I would definitely be interested in staying. Obviously, we will have to wait and see what United think," says 21-year-old Keane, quoted in the Sunday Mirror.

"It will also be important to see if I am playing games because that is the most important thing for me.

"But I have enjoyed myself here and if that is still the case and I keep playing football then I would love to stay."

Steve McLaren's men sit second in the Championship table, four points behind leaders Leicester. They're aiming to return to England's top flight for the first time since the 2007/2008 season.
