Manchester United centre-back Chris Smalling believes the Boxing Day win at Hull City was "pivotal", and has highlighted the team's sense of belief.

Smalling's header kick started United's comeback as the Red Devils came from two goals down to win 3-2.

David Moyes' men have now won five games on the bounce and return to action on Saturday at Norwich City.

Speaking to MUTV, Smalling said: "I think it’s going to be a pivotal three points and it keeps us on this run as well, which is important because it is difficult when you have to play again two days later. It’s always easier when you go into a game off the back of a win.

"We had belief going into this game, and after this win we’ll continue to pick it up. I think we've had our setbacks this season, we need to make sure that we don’t have any more and that we keep winning."

Smalling's goal was his second of the season, having also found the net in United's 5-0 demolition of Bayer Leverkusen in November's Champions League clash.
