Everton win at OT

David Moyes' former club claimed a famous win at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening as Everton brought the Red Devils' 12-match unbeaten run to an end.

Prior to kick-off, Old Trafford paid tribute to Busby Babe Bill Foulkes, who passed away last month at the age of 81. A new banner in the Stretford End was unfurled in honour of the defender, who made 688 appearances for United.

The game was settled in the closing moments. With four minutes remaining, Toffees defender Bryan Oviedo drilled a Romelu Lukaku cross into the back of the net to send all three points back to Goodison Park.

The late strike heaps more despair on Moyes, who was the subject of much derisement from the travelling fans following his move to Old Trafford over the summer.

United, without the injured Robin Van Persie, came close on a number of occasions, with Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Patrice Evra all denied by the woodwork, but Moyes will still be concerned by United's lack of fluency and creative spark for long periods of the game.

The result ends a 21-year wait for an Everton win at the Theatre of Dreams. Their determination to find a late winner, rather than sit back for a well-earned draw, further highlights the erosion of the stadium's fear factor for visiting teams this season, something Moyes must rekindle as he looks to get United's stuttering season back on track.
