As Old Trafford's singing section made its debut for a one-match trial, United's players responded with a narrow 1-0 Champions League victory over Real Sociedad.
Inigo Martinez turned the ball into his own net after some impressive work from Wayne Rooney as United continued an impressive start in Europe.
Sociedad had opportunities to pull level, including Antoine Griezmann hitting the post with a dangerous free-kick, but the Red Devils held on for the points.
The two teams meet again on Guy Fawkes Night, with United presently topping the Group with seven points from three matches and Sociedad yet to get off the mark.
Meanwhile, the game saw the singing section make its debut, housed in the usual away end. The fans who drove the idea forward deserve credit for taking action to improve Old Trafford's atmosphere. The noise was tremendous, and hopefully longer-term solutions can be discussed moving forward. This, alongside reports the club may support 'Safe Standing' terraced areas should the law change, suggest the club is listening.
