Three-horse race?

Wayne Rooney believes that Arsenal and Chelsea are still in the Premier League title race – but Antonio Valencia has described this season’s contest as a three-horse race. United and Tottenham Hotspur are currently leading the chase of league leaders Manchester City.

As ManUtdWeb reported, Rooney recently told the BBC that he believed both Chelsea and Sunday’s opponents Arsenal were still in the title race – despite both clubs trailing leaders City by 11 and 15 points respectively.

The England frontman felt both London clubs were capable of building a winning run which could throw them back into contention to win the 2011/2012 Premier League crown.

However, Rooney’s team-mate Valencia has dismissed this – and feels its a three-way contest between Spurs, who have impressed pundits this season with their brand of attacking football, and both Manchester clubs.

The United winger told the Sun: "Now we are second in the table and it's vital we finish as the leaders. Nothing is decided yet and the pressure could affect Manchester City and we are ready to jump ahead of them.

"Tottenham are developing a sensational season and are also in the race and will be dangerous. But at United we are obliged to fight for the title and will never throw in the towel”.

Ahead of Sunday’s game, Valencia said Arsenal were “too many points behind in the Premier League title race”, whilst he did not mention Andre Villas-Boas’s Chelsea.
