Manchester United continued their stunning run of form with a 5-0 thrashing of Lancashire rivals Bolton on Saturday evening. Wayne Rooney netted another hat-trick and Javier Hernandez scored a brace of goals as the Red Devils made it four league wins from four.

An early injury to promising midfield man Tom Cleverley was the only sore point on another superb afternoon for United.

Hernandez fired the visitors ahead after only five minutes as he pounced on a low Nani cross.

The lead was doubled on 20 minutes as on-form Rooney turned home a cross from defender Phil Jones.

United made it three before half-time. Jones was again the provider, his classy run and pass found Rooney who finished with ease.

Carrick and Hernandez combined after the break to make it 4-0, before Rooney completed his hat-trick on 68 minutes from the edge of the Bolton penalty box.

The Red Devils have now scored 18 goals in four league games, conceding only three times. Sir Alex Ferguson's next test is Benfica!
