Manchester United need to pick up just one point at Ewood Park or at home to Blackpool to be crowned 2010/2011 Premier League champions. The Red Devils lead Chelsea by six points following a memorable 2-1 victory at the Theatre of Dreams, with Javier Hernandez breaking the deadlock after only 36 seconds. Old Trafford erupted as Little Pea latched onto a defence-splitting pass from the brilliant Ji-Sung Park and fired a cool, composed finish beyond the reach of Peter Cech. Chelsea, aiming for a win to leap-frog United, were shellshocked and the Red Devils went onto dominate the opening half with a series of quick, crisp attacking moves. Wayne Rooney came close to making it two with a thunderous, long-range piledriver which was palmed away by Cech. Nemanja Vidic doubled the advantage on 23 minutes as United continued to dominate. The Serbian powered Ryan Giggs' inswinging cross towards goal with a header which bounced before hitting the back of Cech's net. Chelsea's first-half opportunities were restricted to a string of long-range free-kicks and a Didier Drogba header which was well saved by an excellent Edwin van der Sar. The visitors improved slightly after the half-time interval, but United remained the better side and Chelsea were forced to throw on £50million-per-goal frontman Fernando Torres from the substitutes bench. Chelsea got themselves back into the game when Lampard prodded home from only yards out - but, from there, United looked more likely to score the game's fourth goal. Alex blocked a goal-bound shot from Rooney before Javier Hernandez inexplicably missed a header which, in truth, you'd expect most non-league strikers too have put away! United saw out the game, including four minutes of stoppage time, with relative ease to the delight of the Red Army packing the Old Trafford terraces. The atmosphere was superb. This memorable, fantastic victory leaves Sir Alex Ferguson on the verge of another league championship. A point at Ewood Park and victory over Barcelona at Wembley would make this one of the finest season's in the club's long and illustrious history. Come on United. I worried about this one,I really did, because if there was one team capable of tripping us up it was Chelsea.Credit due-best team won on the day.Park -especially first half excellent.Giggs-the legend continues.Valencia-outstanding.Should be 19 now & THAT puts us in front of the scousers.Yes!!!!

I would normally reserve congratulations for a team who've won the title (as you now surely have). But i can't bring myself to do it. May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your tanga briefs Grover!

Shocked at Ancelotti's team selection, feel he handed it to us really, but it was still up to us to take the game to em, and that we did. We destroyed Chelsea for the most part and should have scored more and put it to bed early.

Delighted all in all and a performance like this is just what we needed for a morale boost with the CL final looming!

Haha oh dear Thackley never mind

Maybe someday when you "get back where you belong" the pain of seeing United remain top of english football and now the club to aspire to will be less agonising as at least you will be able to say you ranked in the same league as us again
