Sir Alex Ferguson and Harry Redknapp go head-to-head on Sunday afternoon as Manchester United travel to White Hart Lane. Spurs currently sit fourth in the Premier League table and probably need maximum points if they’re to sustain a push for the league championship. 

Sir Alex has labelled Spurs “exciting” in the build-up to this weekend’s eagerly-anticipated league clash.

The North London club sit eight points behind United in the league table – and they have suffered only one top-flight defeat at the Lane this season.

Redknapp’s Spurs will know that, if they are to sustain an unlikely title bid, they probably need to beat the Red Devils on Sunday afternoon.

Defeat would leave the Lilywhites eleven points off the pace, having played a game more than United, as the business end of the campaign draws ever-closer.

The hosts will be sweating on the fitness of Welshman Gareth Bale, whilst Younes Kaboul returns from suspension. Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate are long-term absentees through injury.

Bale’s countryman Giggs is expected to make his 600^th league appearance in United colours. His performance could be pivotal as the visitors aim to maintain a superb unbeaten league record.

Fergie is expected to re-introduce Nemanja Vidic and Wayne Rooney to his match-day squad, but 'keeper Tomasz Kuszczak will be hoping to keep his place following his clean sheet against the Scousers last weekend.

Ji-Sung Park is on international duty, whilst Paul Scholes is a doubt with a groin strain.

Spurs will be hungry for revenge after Nani's controversial goal helped the Red Devils to a 2-0 win over Redknapp's men back in October.

Im not confident about it. I really am not.

If Bale is on song then he could give Rafael a torrid time down the right and if Nani is offering him cover then he may as well have a free run down the wing.

I dunno if we are able to cope with the style Spuds play. They are very much "attack is the best form of defence".

I'd take a draw to be honest. Given the way we been playing.

Agreed.This will be a tough one.Bale will be a handful.Also Van Der Vart.At £8 million the steal of the season.Wonder where United were when that deal was on offer?Our first league defeat of the season is on the cards methinks.Hope I am wrong.

Why so negative? Rafael put Bale in his back pocket at OT so why cant he do it again? Rafa has been one of our most consistent defenders and players recently

I dont see there attack posing much threat on us, they dont even know what their best front 2 are and with Rio and Vida playing the way they have been together plus the return of Edwin in goal, I dont see them scoring many

Berba is on hot form at the min, sure the midfield is sloppy, but as long as he maintains his usual style of play then I dont see how we cant beat them with his support. Roo will come good, thats not based on fact its based on belief, and their defence isnt exactly rock solid is it?

I think your all being a little too easy to jump on the "oh well we had to lose some time" brigade, sure we arent playing the most glamourous of football, but its effective and thats what counts, theres no reason to believe we cant continue our run against spurs
