Nani celebrates

Nani struck a sensational second-half strike as Manchester United claimed a crucial 2-1 win over Stoke at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening. Javier Hernandez had given the hosts the lead – but Dean Whitehead had restored parity for the Potters.

Just over 73,400 were in attendance as United claimed a hard-fought 2-1 win over Stoke. 

The deadlock was broken on 27 minutes when fans favourite Hernandez flicked home Nani's cross. 

Stoke, however, were persistent and after a bright start to the second-half they drew level as Tuncay set-up Whitehead who nodded beyond Tomasz Kuszczak. 

The Red Devils took only twelve minutes to regain their lead. He fired a sweet, long-range effort in the top left corner of the Stoke goal as the Red Devils sealed their second 2-1 win of 2011. 

Manchester City now trail Sir Alex Ferguson's men by three points - and the men from Eastlands have played one game more. Attentions now turn to the F.A Cup - with the small matter of Liverpool visiting the Theatre of Dreams on Sunday.
