25-goal target

Dimitar Berbatov's strike at St.Andrews established the frontman's place at the top of the Premier League's goalscoring chart. He now has 14 league goals to his name - and Sir Alex Ferguson has set the towering Bulgarian a target of 25 top-flight strikes.

With Wayne Rooney still struggling for top form, Berbatov's prolific form has been pivotal in United's charge to the Premier League summit.

The former Spurs man grabbed his 14th league goal of the season on Tuesday evening as United drew 1-1 at Birmingham City.

His most headline-grabbing performance came at Old Trafford in the Lancastrian derby against Blackburn. The Bulgarian bagged five goals as United romped to a 7-1 win.

Red Devils boss Sir Alex wants to see Berbatov net 25 league goals this season as he aims to win his twelfth league title with the club.

"His form has been terrific," said Sir Alex. "If he can get us to 25 ... then we will have a good chance".

The United boss added that another player will need "to get around that figure" as his men look to wrestle the championship crown back from Chelsea.

Berbatov has nothing to prove, he's been one of our best players for the past 18 month, what he lacks in goal scoring he makes up for in team work
