Heinze to face MUFC

Manchester United will face Marseille in the second round of the Champions League in a draw which is largely considered favourable to the Red Devils. North London duo Arsenal and Spurs face Barcelona and Milan respectively. The weather conditions in the UK meant that Sir Bobby Charlton, scheduled to conduct the draw, was unable to travel to Nyon.

United will be big favourites for the two-legged tie against the French outfit.

Marseille finished second in Group F behind Chelsea, qualifying at the expense of Europa League-bound Spartak Moscow and whipping boys MSK Zilna.

The contest will see ex-Red Gabriel Heinze take on his former employers. After he tried to engineer a move to Liverpool whilst at United, the once-popular half-back can expect a hostile reception at the Theatre of Dreams.

United boast an unbeaten record in the competition so far - claiming four victories and two draws from their six group fixtures.

I'OM, the former club of Eric Cantona,  are facing plenty of competition for France's Ligue 1 crown this season. The defending champions currently sit fifth - having won only three of nine away fixtures. 

Having finished second in their group, United's North London rivals Arsenal will be disappointed with the outcome of the draw.

On the back of their defeat at Old Trafford, the Gunners have been slapped with the prospect of a daunting second round clash against Barcelona.

Harry Redknapp's Spurs, meanwhile, will take on AC Milan; whilst Chelsea should be pleased at being paired alongside Danish outfit Copenhagen.
