Owen with the equaliser

Nani and Michael Owen bagged equalisers for Manchester United as Sir Alex Ferguson's men had to settle for a 2-2 draw with Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium. The result means the Red Devils have drawn all three of their league away games this season.

On a weekend where Chelsea and Arsenal suffered defeats, United failed to capitalise as they were held to a draw at the Reebok Stadium.

Sir Alex Ferguson made no changes from the side that edged out Liverpool 3-2 last weekend - and he saw his side concede after only six minutes. 

Following an end-to-end opening, Zat Knight beat Jonny Evans to flick home a Bolton corner to the delight of the Reebok Stadium faithful. 

The visitors restored parity on 23 minutes thanks to a superb strike from Nani. The Portuguese winger picked up a loose ball in own half before going on a mazy run and firing beyond ex-United target Jussi Jaaskelainen from 18 yards. 

A quarter-of-an-hour after the interval, Federico Macheda replaced an out-of-sorts Wayne Rooney as United looked to add fresh legs in attack, but a stunning counter-attack from the home side edged Wanderers closer to a surprise win.

The move started and finished with Bulgarian international Petrov. His deflected shot, striking Darren Fletcher, left van der Sar wrong footed as the clock ticked towards 68 minutes.

In response, Sir Alex introduced Michael Owen from the bench and that change reaped rewards after only three minutes. The former Liverpool man met a Nani cross with a tremendous glancing header as the travelling Red Army celebrated.

There were, however, no late heroics and neither side could have too many complaints as Phil Dowd brought an end to proceedings.

United now travel to Valencia for Wednesday's evening Champions League fixtures, before Steve Bruce's Black Cats welcome United on the weekend.
