United beat Liverpool in 5 goal thriller!

Hat trick hero!

United surrendered a two goal lead again but this time they managed to score the decisive winner against a Liverpool side who were dead and buried until they were given the lifeline of a penalty after a clumsy tackle on Torres by Johnny Evans. The hat-trick hero was Bebatov who scored in the first half to give United the lead and added with a spectacular overhead second and then the grand finale!

The game had everything - slow start - quick finish and five goals in between as United who dominated for long periods threw away the advantage and the under performing scousers grabbed their chance with both hands, as Steve Gerrard scored with a penalty and a free kick to  give the visiting fans hope and something to cheer about.

The much maligned Berbatov had other ideas and scored a sublime header in fromt of the Stretford End  to seal the win before being subbed off to a standing ovation in the last few minutes.

A great second half a tremendous display from the £30 million striker and three points taken off the team from the wrong end of the East Lancs Road who are looking over the shoulders at the relegation places!

chris this is a game we should have never have conceeded from. I will accept that Evans was caught out by Torres on the slippery wet surface for the penalty. But Fletcher who is one of our best players parted from the wall quicker than Moses could seperate the Red Sea.
Berbatov thoroughly deserved his ovation after that hatrick. Rooney still looks like hes trying to score in a cheap brohel rather than on the football pitch. Giggs and Scholes its sometimes hard to forget that they give Johnson and Gerrard 10 years or more and just played them off the park.
Slightly worried that we can go 2 nil up and within 5 minutes its back to 2-2. Great game and its 3 points, but we look fragile when we take a lead, Fergie needs to sort this out. But we beat the scousers and that iis all that matters still 4 points behind Chelski, but we are coming.

The result was all important today and whilst it is still early days the table is shaping up and it is important to keep in touch with the pace setters who are not surprisingly Chelsea.

fletch was distracted by the liv bloke who broke away from the wall. I think he was torn between being in the wall and preventing the short pass. I wont berate him too much... In general he was a bit quiet but who is the only player in the entire squad that has played now 3 full games in a week?

Fletcher will be fully match fit if he plays against Scunthorpe on Wednesday!!!
