Liverpool visit

One of the biggest games of the calendar comes to Old Trafford on Sunday as Sir Alex Ferguson's men entertain Liverpool. Following the disappointment against Rangers and the last-gasp suicide at Everton, United will be anxious to bounce back with victory against Roy Hodgson's strugglers.

Hodgson led Fulham to a Europa League final and made Fulham a second favourite club for so many across the UK - and then he joined Liverpool!

He has enjoyed a difficult start to life at Anfield, picking up five points from the opening four Premier League fixtures of the season. 

European victories over Trabzonspor and Steaua Bucharest, however, have alleviated early pressure on Hodgson's shoulders. 

Hodgson now brings his Scouse troops back to Manchester – a scene of their 3-0 drubbing at Eastlands earlier on in the campaign. 

United are big favourites with the bookmakers, but Liverpool will have been boosted by United's horror last minute at Goodison Park and the poor display against Glasgow Rangers in the Champions League. 

Ferguson will bring back a host of his big name stars after a weakened United side failed to beat Walter Smith's Ibrox outfit mid-week.

Wayne Rooney and hot performer Dimitar Berbatov are expected to start in attack, with fit-again Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic at the heart of the defence. 

Paul Scholes, Patrice Evra and Darren Fletcher are all expected to play some part in the game, while Edwin van der Sar will return between the sticks. 

In last year's fixture, United claimed a 2-1 win over the Scousers thanks to goals from Rooney and Ji-Sung Park.
